when things collide

I learned a lot this weekend about the value of family, of boundaries that one should never cross, of rudeness and of the fallacy of “good intentions”. I feel like this whole experience has been really tugging at my heart; I am pulled back and forth depending on what the news I hear over the phone is. The good thing is that I am I am re-committing to the values that my mom and dad have set for me – they have put my & Alice's education and safety as their top priority, and that is why I am still in Pittsburgh, going to work, going to class, studying for the MCATs. I am determined to take and make as much good out of this as possible.

The bad news is that my dad is septic. The good news is that he has been on broad-spectrum antibiotics and they've helped – reduced his fever, etc. His white blood cell count doesn't sound so ridiculous anymore. The fever is only 99.5degF – a far cry better than the 105degF it was a few days ago.

If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead, either write things worth reading, or do things worth the writing.

Oh, and that pound cake? It increased in density overnight. Suspicious.
